Burberry, the international luxury brand, has announced the introduction
of the new Burberry Prorsum Spring Summer 2008 Pre-Collection Womenswear.
Christopher Bailey, Creative Director of
Burberry, commented:
“The Burberry Prorsum Pre-Collections are the indicators of the mood, look and feel for
the upcoming men’s and women’s shows and crystallise our statement for the season across all ready-to-wear and
accessories ranges. For spring/summer 2008, we have again looked to our history and saluted the contradictions between strict
regimental military and more playful sport references – and in women’s, the girlish romanticism that has become
part of our signature.”
As stated by Bailey, the key references for the Burberry (http://www.thomasburberry.com/ ) Women's Spring Summer 2008 Pre-Collections are based around the British Regimental Military, including elements of Armature,
and in a wider sense Technical Sport. A very fluid feminine style is also featured throughout the collections.
The
Pre-Collections include outerwear and tailoring, as well as dresses, knitwear, trousers and jersey items.
Silhouettes
are long and lean this season, with an emphasis on body consciousness. Layering is often used over lean silhouettes, as well
as the introduction of empire waist lines and high waisted skirts. Waists play an important part and are accessorised with
a variety of belts. Outerwear is cropped and introduced in scuba jacket shapes. Shoulder lines are moulded and trousers legs
are kept slim.
The Burberry (http://www.burberryusaonline.com/sm-official-site-and-store--bs-2127012.html ) colour palettes include white, black, navy, mallard, marine blue, aquatic turquoise, grape, magenta, as well as gold, trench,
nude, white, tobacco brown, ochre, tan and regimental red, with garnet to be introduced later in the season.
Fabrics
featured in this season's Burberry (http://www.burberryusaonline.com/ ) Prorsum collection include double faced leather, and double leather mesh; Neoprene, gold and white python, shaved mink,
washed and stretch silk satin, cotton silk poplins, polished cotton voile, stretch technical suiting, technical cotton canvas,
stretch chino, raffia, mesh knit, bonded, silk and superfine cashmere knit, bonded cotton knit, knitted stripes and Ikat prints.
Details
and textures include shine, lacquer and gloss, scuba stitching, internal gold piping, scuba plastic oversized zips, lacquered
icon buttons and hardware, hook and eye closures, press studs/snaps, gold icon buttons, regimental closures and ribbon embroidery.
